一七世紀初期に東南アジア各地に進出した日本人の集団居留地。 朱印船貿易の根拠地として多くは港町につくられた。 日本人による自治制をとり, 特にアユタヤ日本町の長であった山田長政は有名。 マニラ・アユタヤ・フェフォ・ツーラン・プノンペンなどが代表的。 鎖国後衰退。 日本人町。
